  • Keeping up with the Kardashians, Season 3 Promotional Shots (Click to view)

IGN interviewed Kim in the leading up to the season premiere of Keeping up with the Kardashians, this Sunday! The article was accompanied by some gorgeous promotional shots for the new season, added to the gallery.

IGN TV: You knew a lot of people who had done reality shows before Keeping Up with the Kardashians began. Did that somewhat give you an idea what you were getting into or was it still a pretty big surprise to see how the process actually worked?

Kim Kardashian: It was definitely a surprise. I remember just hanging out with Paris and Nicole doing Simple Life stuff and watching them film it. Bruce [Jenner] was on I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here and so many different people I knew – my brothers, Brandon and Brody, were on a show called Princes of Malibu, and I was there for the filming of that. So you think you know. You get a glimpse of what it’s like. But you really don’t know until you’re there and the cameras are on 24/7. So I wasn’t really prepared, even though I thought I was.

IGN: I would think that an interesting part of doing this show with your family is that while all families fight, the difference for you is that after you make up, the fight will then be shown on TV a few months later and you’ll see it again. Does it sometimes cause those arguments to flair up again?

Kardashian: It does! It does flair it up again. I’ll watch things and be like, “See? You were so mean. I knew I was right!” It just brings up those feelings. Like when we were skiing – I saw that and it brought the feelings back again and I got all upset. “You shouldn’t have treated me that way”, or whatever. So when you watch episodes back later, you do feel it again. It is real and you’ll kind of argue for a second… and then get over it again.

IGN: On the flipside, does it help you see things from a different perspective, because the cameras might show how it affected the person you were arguing with?

Kardashian: Yeah, definitely. Watching it, you can be like, “Okay, I was a brat.” You can kind of see it from the other side too and try to watch the episode objectively outside of the situation. You can see both sides of it.

IGN: Are there some notable situations in the new season that you think might make particularly big television moments?

Kardashian: You see a lot of everyone in their own element. I think everyone kind of assumes we live at home in our mom’s house, when we all have our own places. So you see my place a lot. You see my brother, Rob. He kind of went off the deep end and goes a little crazy, so you see whatever drama he’s going through. You see me and my boyfriend in his home in New Orleans and more of my personal life, which you haven’t really seen before. You see what happens when my sister goes to jail. You see stuff with Bruce. We just get deeper into our characters. I do the Pussycat Dolls, and I had lasic eye surgery two days before I did the huge performance. I wasn’t supposed to wear any eye makeup and I was so freaked out. You see the whole process. There’s so much craziness that goes on in our lives every day, that we could have this show for the rest of our lives. We’re not boring, so there’s a lot of drama that you’ll see.

IGN: You’ve mentioned the crazy rumors about yourself, many of which you’ll address on your website. Is there one that sticks out, in a sort of ‘Where the hell did that come from?’ way?

Kardashian: The other day, it was on all these websites that I had a nose job. So my publicist sent me a picture from whatever magazine it was that wanted me to confirm this nose job I’d just gotten. And the timeline that they had said I was out… I said, “Well, that would have given me three days of recovery. Aren’t you supposed to be all bruised?” And so I posted a picture of me from one side this way [turn her face], and then one from this side, and you can see my nose looks different from different angles. Sometimes it looks like I don’t have this little bump on my nose and sometimes it looks like I do. So I was like, “Angles, baby” and I just took pictures from both sides and I put it up. Instead of just saying, “No, I didn’t,” I’ll put up pictures, because it’s so crazy that people make up these stories. I get the plastic surgery rumors – not so much the dating rumors anymore. I used to get linked with people I didn’t even know. It’s just…. In some ways, how much do you really want to spend your energy battling every rumor?

Probably the most ridiculous rumor I heard that I got arrested for burning a dog or some kind of weird animal – like a raccoon. That I’d burned it and they had a case number and they had sheriff’s quotes from when I was arrested for this thing. I was like, “That is just absurd.” It showed bones in a field, as if those were the remains of the animal that I had burned.

    IGN: That’s crazy.

Kardashian: It was so nuts. It said I tortured animals. I was like, “This is just ridiculous.”

IGN: Your fellow E! star Joel McHale likes to have fun with clips from your show.

Kardashian: I love Joel McHale. You have to laugh, you know? He’s hysterical to me. I think he’s so funny. We were doing this big E! commercial together and I think he thought that we were going to be upset. He was kind of not wanting to meet us, and we ran up to him going, “You’re so funny!” Because he is so funny. Our show is crazy and funny and I love to see what other people think of it, so it’s funny when he totally makes fun of us.

I saw one of the clips of the year was me getting some cellulite treatment or something, and they played it over and over and over. I was in Alabama with Reggie [Bush]. He had knee surgery, so we were staying at the surgeon’s house and his whole family was there and they kept on watching E! And they kept on showing that Joel McHale clip over and over again. It was like, “Oooh, Kim Kardashian getting cellulite jack hammered out of her ass!” It kept on staying it over and over, and I’m just like, “Oh my god, we’re at the dinner table with this surgeon and his family. This is so embarrassing.”
