A new promotional trailer for the upcoming second season of Kourtney & Kim Take New York recently debuted and wastes no time in building up anticipation for the sisters’ latest trip in the Big Apple. After the news of Kim filing for divorce, the promo leaves impressions of tension between the pair as Kris’ partying and the living situation of the couple are teased.

The arc of the episode was definitely the two sisters’ relationships; Kourtney with Scott as the question of their relationship was raised… are they headed towards an engagement? Kim’s budding romance with her current boyfriend Kris Humphries was addressed with Kim keeping it from everyone besides a few friends that she’d been seeing the New Jersey Nets player. Kim wanted to see how the relationship works out before she would like to confirm it. Scott notes that she seems quite mysterious lately.

The next day or so, Kim and Scott visit a jeweller as Kourtney and Scott have decided to make that weekend their anniversary, he decides to treat her to some jewelry and takes Kim for some help. It’s when they’re looking at the pieces her considers whether he should buy a ring that’s taken his eye and decides he’s at the right time in his life where he wants to settle down with his family. Things were going great for Scott who was preparing the launch event for a new product he has been working on. Kim lends her support and agrees to appear at the event for him when he questions her about how he can’t afford her appearance fee, Kim reiterates that she’s there solely to support him and it’s not necessary. Later on, Kris comes to town because she has an appearance on the Rachel Ray Show, Kourtney and Scott tell her about the launch event for Scott’s product and how they’re all going to support him. Kris immediately has a problem with it and when she meets up with Kim later that evening, reveals her doubts and informs Kim that from a business perspective, she shouldn’t appear and endorse his product because it might hurt her other endorsement deals. Kim agrees and tells Scott she can’t attend the event to which Kourtney tells Kim that she can’t stand up to Kris after she’s already agreed to go and support Scott. The eighth episode; ‘A Dash of Respect’ was the first episode where Khloe comes to visit the sisters and check out the forthcoming DASH store in New York for herself. Almost immediately, Kim feels left out as the renowned close relationship between Kourtney and Khloe rekindles. The DASH store opening doesn’t initially have the same effect that it should of Kim because of this and Scott sets about making it right. The three sisters then talk it out and make amends and enjoy the rest of the store opening, celebrating the hard work invested into opening it by everyone. Kim and Shengo are getting closer and closer as the episode opens with them chilling in bed one morning. Kim makes plans for them to go on a double date with Kourtney and Scott and settles on bowling. Shengo has to leave and Kim goes to walk him out only to be distracted by the noise of Kourtney and Scott getting down and dirty in their room. Kim listens ‘not in a creepy way’ and laughs along with Shengo. During breakfast, Kim tells Kourtney about what she heard and Kourtney feels embarrassed, Scott on the other hand doesn’t seem to mind and jokes about it with Kim. Kourtney decides that her and Scott can’t have sex when Kim is home at the penthouse.

The foursome go on their pre-arranged double date to the bowling alley. Kim notices something is wrong with Shengo as he doesn’t kiss her when he greets her. She ignores it for the moment and they seem to be enjoying their date. When Kourtney and Scott go to grab refreshments, Shengo reveals to Kim that he will have to leave NYC and go back to Australia for a job and also cites visa problems for reasons that he can’t stay when Kim quizzes him. Kim expresses her disappointment and sadness of him having to leave. Shengo tells her he needs to go in two days which makes the feeling even worse.

The next day, Kim is visibly down about the Shengo situation and Scott makes the suggestion that while it’s ‘frowned upon like jaywalking’, Kim could marry Shengo for him to stay in the country. Kourtney disapproves and suggests Kim should move on. Meanwhile that night Kourtney and Scott are looking for a night of passion and count of Kim going out to dinner with Shengo. Kim says she’s too sad about the situation to go out and she just wants to chill much to Scott’s annoyance, taking Kourtney to the gym with him and the two getting frisky in the changing rooms!

The next day, Kim and Shengo are taking it easy with some snacks and relaxing in each others company infront of the TV. Kim starts asking him about his life and asks him questions about what he looks for in a woman to which he keeps hitting the spot with the perfect answers to her. It makes the disappointment of him having to leave seem even more real to Kim. Afterwards, we’re also treated to some brief footage of Kim’s Glamour Magazine photoshoot where Kanye West makes an appearance.

As Shengo has to leave the next day, Kim and Shengo visit the top of the Empire State Building for a final date. They have a good time and Shengo suggests they enjoy the time they have left in New York together. The possibility of them getting married is brought up and promptly vetoed. The next morning, it’s time for Shengo to leave which upsets Kim as she fears she’ll never see him again. She walks him from his hotel to his car and waves him off as he leaves for his plane, walking back home as the episode draws to a close.

Kim is on the phone to Momager, Kris who calls to confirm flights and plans for Kim’s birthday celebrations in Vegas. The subject of last year’s birthday bash and the drama surrounding Scott is raised with Kourtney also in on the call. Kris reveals her anxieties about Scott attending Kim’s birthday but Kourtney tells her that if it’s not problem with Kim, then it shouldn’t be a problem with Kris. Kris then suggests maybe she shouldn’t attend if Scott is.

The gang arrive in Las Vegas, including Scott who once they get to the airport in Vegas, says that the trip might not be a good idea for him after all and that what happened last year might happen again. He’s simply not ready for the temptations of Vegas and respects Kourtney, their son and his sobriety in turning back round and returning to New York. Kourtney expresses how proud she is of him for admitting it and being aware that his being there, might be a problem. Scott returns home to New York as the others continue with their plans and go to their hotel to prepare for Kim’s birthday party.

The next day, Kim, Kourtney and her friends all gather around the pool for a ‘quiet lunch’. Kim fortells of her worries about turning thirty, having previously told how she’d expected to be married with children by the time she reached thirty. Kourtney says that Kim thinks as soon as the clock strikes midnight and it’s officially her birthday, Kim thinks she’s going to become an old troll in a cave and stresses that she wants Kim to have a memorable experience. Trying to cheer her up, Kourtney and Kim’s friends all gather in a circle around the birthday girl and playfully cheer and fool around.

Later that day, Kris, Khloe and Rob all arrive at Kim’s hotel. Kim tells them about Scott’s decision to return home to NY to which Kris expresses her support of him policing himself. Kourtney arrives at the suite and tells her family about her feelings about Scott’s sensible decision, quickly turning the conversation over to trying to loosen Kim up and have her enjoy her birthday. Suggesting Kim place a flower in her vagina so it looks… presentable to whomever goes there much to Kim’s disgust. This weeks episode saw Kim reconnecting with her former bodyguard Shengo Deane that we were first introduced to during the last season of Keeping up with the Kardashians. Shengo emails Kim and tells her that he is in New York and that maybe they should meet up. Kim admits that there’s feelings there and Kourtney informs Kim that she has to so much as kiss a guy and he becomes her boyfriend, also mentioning Kim’s promise to stay single for a little while. Kim says that won’t be the case with Shengo but Kourtney protests and says Kim never just hooks up with someone and that she’s ‘in love with being in love’. Kim emails Shengo and they arrange a get together.

Kim’s dinner date with Shengo goes incredibly well and despite Kim wanting to keep it casual, she admits that all the feelings she initially had for him have come back. He surprises Kim with a gift during their date, some Australian candy that she loved when she visited the country. She invites Shengo back to the penthouse suite for him to check out her New York pad. They get there following dinner and the atmosphere intensifies and the two spend the night together.

The next morning Kim reveals that it’s nice to wake up next to someone and tells of her feelings for Shengo. Kourtney knocks while he is in the bathroom and reminds Kim she has a meeting with her and two designers who they have partnered with. Kim follows her out but during the meeting, Shengo leaves the penthouse and does the ‘walk of shame’ much to Kourtney’s delight. Later on at the DASH NYC store, Kourtney is talking with their interior designer but Kim is distracted and gushes over text messages that Shengo is sending her. Kourtney tells their friends of the activities the night before and Kim ensures that she will see him once more and that’s it. She arranges another date with Shengo to go and play pool.

During the date, Kim realises how attracted she is to Shengo and tells us why he’s the right guy for her. The next day at a cafe with Kourtney, Kim expresses to her sister that she may continue to see Shengo and takes some light teasing from her older sister about having a brood of children in five years time, throwing boomerangs from eucalyptus trees.

The next day or so later, Kim recieves copies of the photoshoot and is LIVID, upset and feels like she’s been taken advantage of! The photos show Kim literally exposed with her bare breasts and butt on display despite being told she would be covered with art work. Kim starts to get very upset and begins to cry, phoning ‘Momager’ Kris and expresses of her disappointment in who ever was responsible for the mix up. Kris tries to comfort her but Kim still feels hurt and despite this, tries to get on with the rest of her night and leave her troubles temporarily behind her by going to a club with her sisters and Scott to catch up.

While at the club however, things take a slight turn for the worse when a male fan asks Kim for a picture. Kim kindly agrees and takes the picture with him. He asks her to dance and she respectfully declines reassuring that the picture he took of them is to his liking. The man’s girlfriend then makes her presence felt and gets up in Kim’s face, cussing her out and being incredibly unpleasant and disrespecting her. Kim keeps her cool and not being the ‘fighting’ type, does not retaliate. Scott sees what is going on and comes to Kim’s aid. When things get even more heated between Scott, the man and his girlfriend a fight ensues and the girlfriend throws her drink over Kim. Scott is wrestled by security and escorted out of the building. Kourtney is angry with Scott for what happened because of the progress he had made in his behaviour despite Khloe and Kim protesting he was the innocent party and she shouldn’t be mad with him.

Following the drama, Kim speaks to Kris who tells her that there is more avoiding the W magazine spread of hitting the shelves as it has already been published. Kris suggests that Kim should own it and be proud of the pictures after the positive comments that have been made about them (side note – she looked amazing!). At the end of the episode, Kim recieves a copy of the magazine and agrees with her Mom, citing it as an honour to be featured in it.

We’re in New York as Kim and Kourtney check into their penthouse suite and expresses their excitement of the DASH NYC store. Kourtney also compliments the different dynamics of their relationship than with that with Khloe. The sisters check out their amazing penthouse and Kim expresses her desire to rebond with Kourtney and rekindle the closeness they had when they were younger. Cue new titles, with customized theme music (instead of LMFAO’s ‘Miami trick’, it’s ‘New York trick’… amazing!).

Kim says that she is glad Scott isn’t staying with them in the penthouse as she admits she wants to spend the quality time with Kourtney. Scott is staying in one of the hotel rooms down the hall from the girls. Kourtney reflects of the drama of their relationship in Miami that prompted them to seek professional help. Kourtney is rest assured that Scott knows it’s her decision about continuing their relationship. Scott confesses that he wants to make up for his mistakes and show Kim that he has changed for the better and that they could be friends again. Kim reveals to camera that being around a couple so in love and showing PDA like Kourtney and Scott when she’s single is annoying. She stresses that the girls need to go out despite Kourtney protesting she’s a mom! Kim agrees to set up a girls night with their friends.

The girls visits Lex bar much to Kourtney’s annoyance but she respects the fact that it is Kim’s first night out in New York as a single lady but says that she is leaving the first chance she gets. They toast to their night in New York as their friend arrives for drinks. Kourtney sees it as an opportunity to leave and go back home to Kim’s dismay. Kim then sees a guy, Michael Copon with who she starred in her first television role in ‘Beyond the Break’ with. She says he’s cute with her friend commenting he looks like Taylor Launter from the Twilight movies. Kim’s friend says she’s going to go to the bathroom but brings Michael over to Kim’s embarrassment. She isn’t nervous for long however as the two start reminiscing about their time working together. They start flirting a little bit and Kim reinstates the fact that she’s single and waits for him to make a move but he doesn’t leave number until Kim’s friend prompts him to.

The next day, the sisters visit the new DASH NYC store in Soho and Kourtney reveals they have a two year lease and are happy with the location. They meet with their interior designer but during the meeting Kim gets a text message from Kanye West with whom she reveals she’s been friends with for years.
